Want to be published in Tantalum Magazine?

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES

Before submitting a story for publication, please read the following guidelines and answers to frequently asked questions. It may seem like a lot, but we swear it will help you stay organized and help our publication speed!

Editorial Length & Construction

Your editorial (fashion or beauty) must be at minimum 6 images long. We have no maximum story length. We are a unisex magazine, and encourage you to submit stories with women, men, and a combination of women and men. Please note: Tantalum Mag reserves the right to further crop, manipulate, or to cut images from the final story to fit with magazine flow.

Clothing

Your story must feature multiple outfits or multiple designers. Please do not send 15 images of the same outfit thinking it’s a fashion story—that’s catalogue and will be rejected.

Nomenclature

Tantalum reserves the right to change the name of your editorial. While we know you love the name you have assigned your editorial, it may not fit with what we are planning for the month. Please know in advance if your editorial name does not quite fit, we will change it.

Payment

We do not pay for submissions. Any expenses or costs of your editorial are at your own risk. You can however pitch us a story and if we love the concept Tantalum Mag may exclusively provide you a pull letter.

Proper Credits

Tantalum Mag requires both clothing and artistic credits. A lack of true and proper credits seriously jeopardizes the credibility of both the magazine and your work, so please keep this in mind. If you need more time to pull credits, please seriously consider delaying your submission. See the credit guidelines below for further information.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Submission and artist responsibilities are broken up into a two-part workflow.

Part One: Submitting for publication

Part one is seeing if your story is a cut above. To submit an editorial for publication, please do the following:

  • PLEASE DO:
    • Send an email containing your images to submissions@tantalummag.com

    • ATTACH OR EMBED LOW RESOLUTION IMAGES in the email

    • Provide contact information to contact you if your submission is accepted

  • PLEASE DO NOT:

    • Send high resolution images

    • Do not send a .ZIP file (the images should be in your email body or attached)

Acceptance

If Tantalum Mag chooses your submission for publication we will respond to you as quickly as possible to notify you.

Rejection

Please know that due to the volume of editorials we receive that we only respond to those that we accept. If you send us an editorial and do not hear back from us, chances are your editorial was not accepted, but don’t let that stop you—if you feel your story is strong, re-submit for the next issue!

Part Two: Your responsibilities after acceptance

If you are reading this section because your shoot may be featured in Tantalum Mag, congratulations! Please read the following requirements to complete the process. Please note: Do not vary from these requirements, as it may delay or prevent the publication of your story.

Image Preparation

Tantalum Mag requires you to send high resolution images for final publication. Image files should be:

  • 300 dpi minimum

  • Portrait oriented images should be a minimum of 8.5 x 11 inches (216 x 279 mm)

  • Landscape oriented images should be a minimum of 11 x 17 inches (279 x 432 mm)

  • Saved as either a TIFFs or JPEGs

  • Use proper RGB or CYMK workspaces and have embedded ICC profile

Credit Preparation

Tantalum Mag requires both clothing and artistic credits. Since we don’t know your artistic team, PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL NAMES ARE SPELLED PROPERLY BEFORE SUBMITTING TO US. Follow these guidelines when writing up your credits:

  • All credits (artistic team, clothing, and links list) should be sent as plain text (.txt), MS Word (.doc or .docx), or Adobe PDF (.pdf) format

  • For the artistic team, please supply:

    • Photographer name(s) and link to web site(s)

    • Hair and makeup artists name(s) and link to web site(s)

    • Wardrobe or fashion stylist name(s) and link to web site(s)

    • Models name(s) AND agency affiliation(s). Please provide links to agency web site.

  • For clothing credits, the wardrobe stylist should provide a complete stock list with corresponding image number, description with designer name, and a separate links list. Here’s an example:

    • Photo 1:

      • Piece of Clothing / Designer

      • Leather Jacket / Topshop

      • Skirt / ZARA

Social Sharing

We would like to promote you with your work when on our Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages. If you, your artistic team and/or models (and their agencies) are on any of these sites, please provide those links in the artistic team credits. Please follow us so we can actively tag you during the promotion process. And we follow back!

Final File Preparation

You should now have your high resolution images ready to go, a stock list that mirrors the images that you are providing, a list of links for the different clothing designers, and credits and links on how to reach you and your artistic team or check out team portfolios. Please drop all of these files into a folder and .ZIP it up! At this point, email the folder to submissions@tantalummag.com

What’s Next?

We will contact one of the members of the artistic team for a follow up interview for the web edition of Tantalum Mag. Interviews take place via email. Please note, interviews must be returned to Tantalum Mag a week before publishing for editing. If you are picked for an interview and are unable or unwilling to do the interview, please notify us immediately so we can identify another team member to interview.

Thank you!

XOXO Team Tan!
